“Hidden Figures” is a nonfiction book written by Margot Lee Shetterly. It’s about african american women who accomplished the difficult task of projecting NASA’s air launch of a rocket in to space, including the launch of an airplane. This book focuses on four masterminds who are african american women: Dorothy Vaughan, Mary Jackson, Katherine Johnson, Christine Darden. During this time period, of fighting for equality rights, Cold war, and other circumstances, these women were able to join NASA and help out with their program of launching a rocket to space, especially their phenomenal work in aerospacedynamics.
I loved this book, because it was inspirational to young women, because I think that this book was emotional in many ways for one fighting for what is right. Also, I would recommend this book to young adults ages eleven and up because it talks about our nations history, the strong intellect of four african american women; and I think that many readers will enjoy this heartfelt book.
