“Frankenstein” By: Mary W. Shelley

Frankenstein is a science fiction novel written by Mary W. Shelley, in the time period of the 1800’s. This novel mainly focuses on the following two main characters Victor Frankenstein and his monster. This novel is about Victor’s love for natural philosophy and chemistry, and how he applies this knowledge to create a treacherous monster. Victor’s creation was made with deep passion but that passion changes to something far more: revenge. This revenge is both from the creature and Victor. This novel is about the battles and experiences each one of them takes to place themselves in society and know their positions in life. Furthermore, the creature is undermined by society and suffers a lack of interaction between other human-beings because of his horrifying appearance. Victor wants to keep his family and friends safe from this creature, and ultimately the creature desires love. Frankenstein was a good novel because it was filled with action and horror/gothic experiences that will keep the reader on their toes. I had learned many lessons from this novel, and I would recommend this book to ages thirteen and up both girls and boys; since this book contains many circumstances when both the monster and Victor seek revenge and there is blood and deaths.
