Dork Diaries by Rachel Russel

Dork Diaries is a comedic book about a young girl, Nikki, who writes in her diary about her life at a new school, friends, and family. She talks about the struggles she has with her mom about growing as a teenager and needing an iPhone, her annoying little sister Brianna, her new crush Brandon, and a mean girl, Mackenzie. The book revolves around her crazy life as she starts high school.

I loved reading Dork Diaries because it was so interesting and hilarious. The author did an amazing job of making Nikki’s life seem crazy with all these elements in it. However, I didn’t like how it was predictable with the mean girl, the annoying sister, and the crush. Overall, the book was well-written and I would recommend it to kids ages 9-12.
